Theobjectiveistobethefirstto"goout"bymelding11cards.Meldingisplacingavalidcombinationofcardsfaceuponthetableinfrontofyou.Thesefaceupcardsareyourmeld.Thecombinationsallowedare:
agrouporshortofthreeorfourcardsofthesamerank,suchas7ofHearts,7ofClubs,andthe7ofSpadesina
sequenceorstraightoffromthreetoeightcardsofthesamesuitinconsecutiveorder,suchas4ofClubs,5ofClubs,and6ofClubs.
Notethatinthisgametheaceisalwayslowandthe7isnexttothejack.SowhenmakingsequencesA-2-3and6-7-JarelegalbutQ-K-Aisnotallowed.
Atalltimes,themeldyouhaveonthetablemustconsistoneormoreseparatevalidcombinations.Acardcanneverbepartofmorethanonecombinationatthesametime.
Notethatasequencecannotcontainmorethaneightcards.Thismaximumlengthissetbecauseyouhavetomeldexactlyelevencardstowin.Forthisyoumusthaveatleasttwocombinations.Ifoneofthemhastheminimumsizeofthreecards,theothercannothavemorethaneight.

Playcontinuesinthiswayuntileithersomeonegoesoutorthestockrunsout.
Yougooutbymeldingthefaceupcardfromthecenterofthetable(whetherdiscardedorrejectedbyyouropponentornewlyturnedupbyyou)alongwithalltheremainingcardsinyourhand(ifany).Yourmeldonthetablewillthenconsistofelevencards.Inthiscaseyouhavewonandyouropponentpaysyouafixedstake.
Iftherearenocardsremaininginthestockandyoudonotusethecardyouropponentdiscardedorrejected,youareunabletoturnupanewcardbecausetherearenoneleft.Inthiscasethegameisadraw,andsomeplaythatthenextgameisplayedforadoublestake.
Notethatalthoughyoumaymeldtencardsanddiscardyourlastcard,thisdoesnotwinthegameorendtheplay.Ifyoudothisyouhavetocontinueplayinguntilyougetaneleventhcardwhichyoucanaddtoyourmeld.Thiseleventhcardwouldhavetobeeitherdiscardedorpassedtoyoubyyouropponentorturnedupbyyouafterrejectingthecardfromyouropponent.
