Whennamingasuit(orderinguptrump),aplayerstatesthattheirteamintendstowinthemajorityoftricksofthehand.Asinglepointisscorediftheteamtakesthreeorfourtricks,andtwopointsarescorediftheteamtakesallfivetricks.Afailureoftheteamtowinthreetricksisreferredtoasbeing"euchred",andthatteamispenalizedbygivingtheopposingteamtwopoints.
Acallerwithverygoodcardscan"goalone"(orderupalone),inwhichcasethecallertriestowinthemarchwithoutapartner.Thepartnerofacallerinalonehanddoesnotplay,andifthecallerachievesthemarch(winningall5tricks),thewinningpartnersscore4points.Ifonlythreeorfourofthetricksaretakenwhilegoingalone,thenonlyonepointisscored.Ifeuchredwhileplayingalone,theopposingteamstillonlyreceives2points.
