WithitandECUConnectyoucanretrieveinformationfromtheECU,readandcleardiagnostictroublecodes(DTCs)andobserve,analyseandlogallengine-runningparametersinrealtime,soit’sanimmenselypowerfultroubleshootingtool.
Theappalsorecordsalogofdatastreamedfromtheenginesothatyoucanemailittoanexperttuner,forinstance,fortheirscrutinyshouldyouhaveanengine-runningproblem.
Don’tconfuseEcuTekECUConnectwithotherBluetoothdiagnosticdevicesandappsalreadyonthemarketasthesearemainlyintendedforreadingDTCs,andthefewthatcanalsoprovidedata-loggingdonothavethecapabilitiesorspeedofEcutek’sBluetoothVehicleInterface,whichisthecompany’sownin-housedevelopmentfromthegroundup.
ECUConnectcanonlybeusedinconjunctionwiththeEcuTekBluetoothinterface,whichiskeytoitshigh-speedoperation;itwillnotworkwithanyother.
EcuTekProECU–andthereforeECUConnect-supportsanumberofdifferentvehiclesfromInfiniti,Mazda,Mitsubishi,Nissan,Scion,SubaruandToyota,andmostrecentlyhasalsoaddedsupportforHonda’s2.0-litreVTEC-enginedCivic,whileongoingdevelopmentwillbeaddingmoremakesandmodelsinduecourse.

Eachvehiclemodelhasitsownspecificcombinationofengine-managementpossibilitiesandfeatures,andonetunedwithaProECUSuitethatincludesRaceROMbringsahostofadditionalfunctionsforwhichECUConnectcanbeparticularlyuseful.
RaceROMaddsECUmapswhoseinput,outputandpurposecanbedeterminedbythetunerorvehicleownertoachievesuchextrafunctionssuchasswitchingbetweendifferentenginetunes,runningonFlex-Fuel,controllingturbochargerboost,adjustinglaunch-andtraction-controlcharacteristics…andmuchmore.
Switchingbetweenmapsandmakingadjustments‘onthefly’willbeeasierandmorepracticalwhendonecable-freeonyourhandheldAndroiddevice.
ECUConnectcanalsobeusedtocontrolacar’s‘factorytools’ifithasthese.OneexampleistheNissanGT-Rwhosefactorytoolsallowtransmissioncontrolsystemadjustments,tyrepressuremonitoringsystemcalibration(whichrequiresaTPMSresettool),clutchtouch-pointsandpressureadjustmentsandidlelearning,amongotherthings.
