TheKingJamesVersion(KJV),commonlyknownastheAuthorizedVersion(AV)orKingJamesBible(KJB),isanEnglishtranslationoftheChristianBiblefortheChurchofEnglandbegunin1604andcompletedin1611.FirstprintedbytheKing'sPrinterRobertBarker,thiswasthethirdtranslationintoEnglishtobeapprovedbytheEnglishChurchauthorities.ThefirstwastheGreatBiblecommissionedinthereignofKingHenryVIII,andthesecondwastheBishops'Bibleof1568.InJanuary1604,KingJamesIconvenedtheHamptonCourtConferencewhereanewEnglishversionwasconceivedinresponsetotheperceivedproblemsoftheearliertranslationsasdetectedbythePuritans,afactionwithintheChurchofEngland.
